Smart Gateways

Smart gateways are an appliance that bridges a Wide Area Network or Cloud connection to a Local Area Network (LAN) which is usually WiFi or Ethernet based in the home.

The WAN connection is typically a Fibre, Cable or ADSL connected to the smart gateway via a modem or router. The smart gateway functions include WAN to LAN bridging, Network Address Translation (NAT), IP forwarding, Wireless Access Point management and voice over IP (VoIP) processing.

Smart gateways are the central nervous system that integrates all smart home devices and peripherals through a single communication protocol to allow the user to control all their smart devices seamlessly in their home through a single portal on any smart device such as a computer, mobile phone or tablet.
