- Active element: semiconductor electronic switch
Product Details
The Fibaro Z Wave Dimmer 2 Switch is designed to operate with or without a neutral wire. It may be used as a switch in systems without a neutral wire.
In case of 2-wire connection (no neutral), the Fibaro Z Wave Dimmer 2 Switch may require a minimum load of 50W depending on specifics of the connected load.
When used with a Fibaro Dimmer Bypass 2 it may operate with any compatible (see below) load from 5W.
Before committing to buy Fibaro Dimmer Bypass 2 please check if your load can be properly controlled by Fibaro Z Wave Dimmer 2 switch without bypass device.
Do not connect this device to a power supply without a load. Only lighting devices may be connected to this device.
As a dimmer it operates with the following loads:
- 230V operated conventional incandescent (from 50W to 250W)
- 230V operated halogen (from 50W to 200W)
- 12 V operated ELV halogen lamps and dimmable LED lamps (with electronic transformers: Trailing and Leading edge type) (from 50W to 200W)
- 12V operated MLV halogen lamps (with frromagnetic transformers) (from 50W to 225W)
- Dimmable CFL tube lamps with electronic ballast only (from 50W to 200W)
As a switch it operates with the following loads:
- Compact fluorescent lamps with electronic ballast
- LED bulbs (power factor >0.7)
- Fluorescent tube lamps with electronic ballast
Please note: For loads other than resistive do not exceed a 1.5A current.
The Fibaro Z Wave Dimmer 2 Switch integrates with all Australian certified (921.42 MHz) Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus controllers including:
Please note: Do not mix the load type (e.g. LED and CFL or different type of transformers) as it will impede the proper operation of the Fibaro Z Wave Dimmer 2 Switch. Doing so will void the dimmer’s warranty.
Configuring Z Wave Devices
Z-Wave devices often have several configurable parameters which you can change using your Vera’s user interface.
These parameters can include things such as the length of time a Z-Wave siren remains active for or the type of manual switch connected to a Z-Wave light controller.
Every available configurable parameter is listed in your device’s user manual. In most cases your device’s default parameters will be suitable to your needs however sometimes it may be necessary to adjust them to optimally use your device.

IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE PURCHASING
- The Fibaro Z Wave Dimmer 2 Switch must be installed by a qualified electrician.
- Before engaging an electrician, check that they provide a warranty and electrical compliance certificate.
- For warranty claim you have to provide an installation compliance certificate from your electrician.
PLEASE NOTE FOR THE INSTALLATIONS IN THE AREAS WHERE ELECTRICITY SUPPLIERS USING OFF-PEAK RIPPLE CONTROL SIGNALS:
Electricity suppliers in particular areas of Australia such as NSW, QLD and some others places are injecting an off-peak ripple control signal using Zellweger equipment or similar onto their distribution networks in order to remotely control devices such as off-peak hot water systems and street lighting, although other areas within Australia also use this technology. Not all properties are affected by ripple control, so just because you might live in one of these areas, does not mean that you will have these problems.
Ripple injection control systems work by superimposing coded control signal, commonly 750Hz or 1050Hz on the 50 Hz mains supply.
Some electrical appliances such as fans, dimmers, toasters and LED lighting can be sensitive to this ripple control signal. The results could be audible buzzing noises from fans or flickering lights whenever the ripple control signals are present.
Electricity suppliers are advising users to install appropriate ripple signal filters in such areas.
The ripple signal filter is a tuned passive inline filter which completely eliminates the superimposed ripple injection control signal from the normal mains supply to produce a noise free filtered mains supply which can then be connected to the electrical appliances or light control systems. The ripple signal filter is specifically tuned to eliminate the ripple control signal frequency of 750Hz or 1050Hz.
However we can’t guarantee the ripple signal filter always will help you if you experiencing such issues. Please contact your local energy provider to get more information and proposed solutions for your electrical installation.
If you are getting similar problems with your dimmers and fans and it’s not Ripple Control Signal and you are hearing the tones at random times of the day, your electrical supply may be affected by harmonics; a power fluctuation that is not part of the normal electricity supply or ripple control signal output.
Harmonics are caused by an interference created by other equipment on the network, such as inverter type air conditioners and switch mode power supplies for computers.
The offending appliances may be in your home or other premises on the local power grid. If you are being affected by network harmonics, it may be of benefit to transfer the electricity supply to your premises to a different phase in the street. This is something you will need to discuss with your electrical company.
We are strongly recommending for the areas we have mentioned above to run test with only few dimmers before committing for high volumes. If results are not fully OK you may use relays only instead of dimmers.
Please note that our warranty for the faulty devices is not covering the above mentioned conditions with your local electric grids.
Please see affected with Ripple Signalling areas here:
QUEENSLAND
- Only Southern Queensland (Energex) has Ripple Signalling.
- The Frequency is 1050Hz.
- The rest of Queensland (Ergon) does not have Ripple Signalling.
